Tim Crosby is the Principal of the Thread Fund. We are proud to be members of the Global Alliance for the Future of Food and the SAFSF. Financial capital is deployed through a series of LLCs. Philanthropic capital is deployed through a donor-advised fund at the Seattle Foundation.
We do not accept unsolicited proposals. Instead we work 'on the ground' in the region to identify strategic and systemic innovations that need assistance. We have had much success with early stage, proof-of-concept efforts, which need hard to find startup grant funds. The vision of the Thread Fund is a viable network of regionally-based enterprises that succeed by supporting each other's business and values-based goals. The primary focus area for engagement is to improve market conditions for enterprises involved in sustainable / eco-agrological food. We use multiples form of capital to leverage change, and consider the notion that one of the best ways to conserve farmland is to improve the economics of farming. The primary region for engagement is the U.S.'s Pacific Northwest region, with strategic national and international investments also deployed. |
